I was looking through my phone this week and saw an old photo I posted on Instagram. I pinned it to our profile (@fishertalent) and captioned it, "Talent is in the cracks."
Fisher Talent Group stands for a lot (equal opportunity, "opening the world's dividing lines," believing in talent "beyond borders, lines, and dirt roads," etc.). However, what ties these ideas together is the concept of "player discovery."
There are countless reasons why talented athletes might not "surface." Their circumstance puts them in the "cracks" where hardships limit their ability to showcase themselves. Various misfortunes prevent them from using football to advance their life as others do.
At Fisher Talent Group, we understand that being born on one side of a line, into an unfathomable situation, or facing unique difficulties are driving forces that weigh down marginalized youth. These ideas are why Fisher Talent Group spotlights them and their communities by going where others won't and promoting their talent.
Establishing a youth talent database and providing jobs through a paid scouting network is critical for going from "helping" to "changing." Fisher Talent Group's ideas of player discovery, talent identification, and centralizing African youth football talent into a promotional database are how we inspire others to stand with us. We must discover and promote talent in the "cracks" to illuminate the gaps.
